Federal immigration officials said there would be a second visa lottery this year, but didn’t say when it would take place.
Employers seeking competitive H-1B temporary work visas will have another chance at the lottery, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced Thursday.
H-1B visas, which allow foreign workers in specialized jobs and are often used in tech, are highly sought after. USCIS earlier this year warned companies might be trying to unfairly tip the scales to win visas for certain foreign workers.
The second lottery will pull from previous electronic registrations for fiscal year 2024, USCIS said.
